Gaia Eco Biodegradable Vibrator Review

To say I wanted to love the Gaia Eco Biodegradable Vibrator is an understatement. I wanted to feel the need to shout its praises from the rooftops. Anything in this increasingly fucked world that can do a little better for our environment already gets a tick from me. Unfortunately, after that initial tick, things were almost all crosses from there. One of the hardest things to learn and practice as a sex toy reviewer is that whilst a toy may be complete crap for me, for someone else it could be just right. What makes a sex toy bad for only one and what makes it just bad?

Packaging

In keeping with its eco-friendly mission, the packaging is made of cardboard and is not unnecessarily large. There is no pointless plastic insert, just a recyclable box containing a recyclable product.

Design

I’ve been spoilt rotten for too long by the joys of silicone, but there is something to be said about the perks of plastic. Not only a body safe material but one that comes at a fraction of the price of others. Usually eco-friendly comes with an increase in cost, but that seems to not be the case with the Gaia Biodegradable Vibe.

If it wasn’t for the eco-marketing for this product, I’d have assumed it was the same material used for every other plastic sex toy. By sight and by screwing, the only thing that makes this plastic any different is that it’s kinder to our planet.

With 5.7 inches of insertable length and a slim 3 inch circumference, this tapered tip buzzer is designed for both clitoral and vaginal stimulation. Unfortunately, its lack of flare makes the ass area a no-go. It’s also lacking in waterproofness and as such is one for play outside of the shower, bath or if you’re a lucky bugger, hot tub.

Batteries

Interestingly, and annoyingly, this ‘eco-friendly’ vibe runs on batteries. I don’t get it? I just don’t. Wouldn’t rechargeability make it actually eco-friendly? Fortunately, you can use 2 rechargeable AA batteries and keep things green. Just unscrew the base and slot those power suppliers straight in. Prepare for pleasure…

Functions

Okay, so this is a budget vibe and as such, it looks and works like something picked out of a sex store’s bargain bucket in 1980. The base, that screws off to reveal the battery compartment, also has a separate section to dial up the intensity. Twisting it can take things from an almost non-existent purr to an impressive, for the style, roar. A control dial, though outdated, is a lot less limited than a button control as you can twist to your precise desired intensity.

Play Time

It’s clear to anyone that has spent more than two minutes on my blog, that I have sex toy privilege. My clitoris and vagina have become accustomed to the most luxurious of vibes. The Gaia is not a vibrator designed for the likes of me. It’s designed for beginners and the budget conscious. It’s designed for me, 10 years ago. With that in mind, it is a fluttering fraction of what my genitalia desires. It’s a peck when I want a snog. A finger when I want a fist. A purr when I want nothing less than the roar of a lion.

But, not everyone is me. Some people will appreciate its gentle vibes and light rumble. They will love the pressure plastic can achieve both clitorally and vaginally. They’ll crave the finger-like width and straight rigid shaft, long enough to reach their most hidden of depths. They could love the smooth texture, wincing at the sight of bumps and ridges.

The truth is, I can orgasm with the Gaia and that isn’t true of every budget-friendly vibrator on the market. This Biodegradable Vibrator does have something going for it, and it’s more than its planet-friendliness. For the price, I don’t think I could honestly expect much more. If less than $15 is your limit, you’re looking at a worthy contender.

I also feel it necessary to point out that battery powered vibes can largely depend on the batteries you insert. Who knows what a set of Duracell could do? Maybe my Poundland puppies just didn’t have the juice this buzzer needed to wow.

Conclusion

I’ve tried enough Blush Novelties sex toys to know what they are capable of. So I can’t help but feel a little disappointed that they didn’t put those talents into the Gaia Eco Biodegradable Vibrator. Sure, it does the job for a classic, budget-friendly vibe. But, no one, NO ONE, is going to want to shout out about its unique orgasm inducing abilities. In my opinion, it is an acceptable, average vibrator. There may be worse out there, but there is also a whole lot better. Unfortunately, they also cost a whole lot more. Both financially and ecologically.

If you want another reason to feel good whilst you wank, purchase your Gaia Eco Biodegradable Vibrator here for only $11!
