Lelo Sona Review
Let me introduce you to the sex toy that did something NO other sex toy has ever done. Something I have been trying to achieve for 8 years. A thing I have researched for hours; tried every method and had eventually given up all hope on. The sex toy I am talking about is the Lelo Sona. And the glorious thing I finally achieved with it? Squirting! Hurray!
If you’ve heard of Lelo, (which, of course, you have) you will know that tacky packaging is not something they do. It’s luxury and sleek, gift-worthy boxes and never anything less. This is not a cheap toy. It’s an investment into a better sex life. And the Lelo Sona packaging reflects that. The black box has the toy cushioned inside, with a compartment for the charger, storage pouch, lube sachet and mini manual.
This seamless bubblegum pink stimulator is a collaboration of super soft silicone and reflective ABS plastic. It’s lightweight and features a curved back, making it comfortable to hold during play. The three buttons are simple to navigate; even when my eyes are tight shut and I’m praising the Lelo Gods for bringing me such pleasure.
The nozzle is just large enough for me to insert my pinky finger into the pink hole. The soft silicone gives it some cushioning for comfort but the nozzle is hard and rigid. It still fits snuggly around my clitoris but it is too small to encompass my entire clitoral hood as well. It’s not a problem. It feels damn good regardless.
Whilst the Sona is far from being the whisper quiet sex toy Lelo claims it to be, it is entirely waterproof. So, a lot of discreet fun can still be had in the bath or shower. And honestly, even if the toy WAS silent, I’d be willing to bet when it brought you to climax, you wouldn’t be! I’m the girl that only moans for the benefit of a partner. Except I used the Sona on my own and I couldn’t shut myself up. I’m pretty sure my neighbours now think I’m a porn star.
The Lelo Sona is a USB rechargeable sex toy. A 2 hour charge should give you about 1 hour of play. I don’t know whether you actually get longer, or I’m just playing with it for less time than I thought. As mine still hasn’t needed recharging after a good few plays.
The Lelo Sona has functions new to me in the world of suction toys. The Sona has patterns. And I really think this is one of the main reasons this toy was the one to make me squirt. The patterns give me the chance to jack up the power, as my clit gets little milliseconds of relief from the intensity. The seven patterns are a rollercoaster of pleasure I never want to ‘get off’ of.
A little wetness to the nozzle rim, a fumble around for that perfect spot, sexy fantasy conjured up. And I’m good to go.
I hold the Lelo Sona with the buttons facing me. Which is comfortable, the buttons are easy to navigate and if I want to add a dildo into the mix, the Sona doesn’t get in the way.
Every time I use one of these ‘suction’ toys I’m taken aback by the intensity. The sensation of the Lelo Sona is so powerful I’m half excited and half nervous when I bring it out to play. A gentle build up is not achievable. It’s ‘holy crap this toy means business’ from the second it comes into contact with my clit. I do start with the lowest setting which makes it quite comfortable and then increase power as I get used to the sensations. But still… Wow! It sucks, flickers and mildly vibrates against my sensitive zone. It’s like being on the edge of orgasm the second I switch it on. Except getting over the edge takes longer than it would with a vibe.
So, let’s talk about getting over that edge. Let’s discuss the orgasm. Because of the pleasure of the build-up, I kind of don’t want to get there. I don’t want this – so good it’s mildly uncomfortable – feeling to ever end. I’m happy in my intensely pleasurable bubble. When it does eventually happen though, I’m pretty sure fireworks explode out of my vagina. I lose all focus, I make uncontrollable noises and a couple of times, I squirted. The orgasm isn’t just an explosion like no other, it also lasts so much longer than an orgasm with a vibrator would. Wave after wave of breathtaking release. And then I do it all over again…
I’m a single lady so I was only able to test the Lelo Sona out with a dildo. But for the benefit of those with a penis to penetrate them, I made sure I bounced around enough to give the Sona a thorough testing. And I was left pretty surprised. Even as I jiggled my hardest, I was able to keep the Sona in its sweet spot. With g spot stimulation I was able to achieve climax quicker, but no better. Basically, it’s just mindblowing either way.
Lelo boasts that the Sona provides an entirely new orgasm. And for once I find a sex toy companies bold claims to be pretty accurate. I can’t compare the Sona to any other sex toy. Not even other suction toys. The intense rippling suck against my clit introduced me to pleasures I have never known before. It even introduced me to squirting! I still love my vibes, but I love them a little less after trying the Lelo Sona.
